“Bare Bones” Party Kicks Off Spectacular Newport Designer Showhouse
In the best tradition of TV’s popular makeover programs, The Newport Showhouse Guild recently hosted a “Bare Bones” party for members, designers and their clients, social service agency board members, and friends at The Carnegie Abbey Club in Portsmouth, Rhode Island The purpose was to show the “before” in the two fabulous new constructions by Mark Horan Builders to be designed by some of New England’s top interior designers. The highly anticipated “after” can be seen when the NSG opens its eleventh Designer Showhouse on May 6, 2006. The Showhouse will be open daily until June 5.
An added bonus for attendees will be tours of two Carnegie Abbey Club “Royal Cottages,” decorated by interior designers Sharon Cameron Lawn and John Peixinho.
Over two hundred people gathered in the newly-completed houses, avoiding the occasional stack of lumber and dangling wire, for elegant hors d’oeuvres and wine and cocktails, to see the sprawling, shingle-style constructions in the grounds of one of the northeast’s most exclusive private sporting estates.
A Lecture & Luncheon Series will be held in conjunction with the Showhouse on four Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m beginning May 10, and a Wine & Music by the Bay Series will be given on Thursdays from 6:30-8 p.m. beginning May 11. The events are $20 and $25 respectively, or $75 for the full evening series, and do not include admission to the Showhouses.
